Our CD was reviewed in the January issue of Oculus Magazine. They said...
"Victoria Clamp's elegantly soothing, airy cadences swirl above
creamy guitar and violin appetizers, serene acoustic lullabies, and
quirky, futuristic drum and bass trinkets. On the electronica informed,
"Kill You", whispery grievances, scratchy samples, eerie tape
loops and interjected laughter drape the inner turmoil surrounding the
seductive death wish at the core...contrasts...many eclectic post mod
and diva-esque styles..."

Blondestreak at Arlene's Grocery
Musician's Express,August issue,by Don Petanato
Blondestreak falls somewhere in Poe, Meredith Brooks and Liz Phair
territory. That said, they put on a good show and are obviously no strangers
to the stage. First of several bands at Arlene's that night, they had
a responsive crowd which added to the whole experience. The band features
lead vocalist Victoria Clamp, ex of Tom Tom Club, and guitarist Liz
Clayton ex of Prey. Lead Guitarist, Glenn Sherman is a non-typical player
with roots in funk and country. He brings a fresh approach to what is
being referred to these days as alternative rock.
Opening with "Food For My Soul", the musicians quickly showed
that they are seasoned but not afraid to have some fun and experiment.
The intro to this song featured guitarist Glenn Sherman, improvising
on some Eastern scales and melodies. Song after song we were treated
to well thought out arrangements and good dynamics. On "So Sad",
Victoria starts off on solo electric guitar and the band doesn't come
in until well into the song. Similarly, other songs snaked in and out
with parts breaking down to bass and drums, solo acoustic, or solo electric
guitar, thus feeding us plenty of ear candy.
Lyrically, though, is where Blondestreak really stands out. Victoria
Clamp has crafted some fine songs based - obviously, on real world experiences.
She tells us about her search for God, her relationships with friends
who O.D'd or sexual experiences. These are not of the generic "singer-songwriter"
ilk.
There is also an undeniable bi-sexual vibe that permeates the front
line of this band. Guitarist and background singer, Liz Clayton has
a very electric connection to Victoria and the closing song, "Looking
for Jeff", delves into girl-girl attraction. The lyrics are tongue
in cheek and leave you with a smile on your face (or blushing...). Catch
these guys.
